Marijuana, still not legal, is now less criminal
Albany, N.Y. — The law decriminalizing marijuana — but not legalizing it entirely — in New York state went into effect on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The law will expunge the records of an estimated 600,000 New Yorkers who have low-level marijuana charges and make possession of less than two ounces a violation, rather than a misdemeanor or felony crime.
