Living and breathing dance is par for the course at the Dance Theater of Harlem. It's just never looked like this. A group including 15 dancers, a choreographer, the artistic director and a production team has taken up residence at a cultural center in New York's Hudson Valley, about 100 mile north of New York City. There, inspired by the example set by the National Basketball Association and entertainment mogul Tyler Perry, they're in a bubble until the end of the month — a coronavirus quarantine bubble.

President Donald Trump on Saturday mocked Democrat Joe Biden as "an inspiring guy" for raising alarm about the pandemic even as the president attracted sizable campaign crowds with coronavirus cases surging across the country in the closing days of the race. Biden, pressing the case that Trump doesn't deserve a second term because of his handling of the pandemic, said at his own smaller drive-in rally outside Philadelphia that he didn't "like the idea of all this distance but it's necessary" for public health reasons.

Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler stepped out of a Humvee on a foggy morning in northwest Georgia wearing an American flag trucker hat to accept the endorsement of a congressional candidate who has expressed support for baseless QAnon conspiracy theories and made disparaging comments about Black people, Muslims and Jews. Loeffler smiled and nodded as Marjorie Taylor Greene praised her as “the most conservative Republican" running in Georgia's multi-candidate special election for the U.S. Senate seat Loeffler was appointed to 10 months ago.

A police force in England says it will try to stop people from leaving Wales, which has started a 17-day lockdown to slow a surging rate of coronavirus infections. The Gloucestershire Constabulary will patrol routes from Wales and pull over drivers they believe are making long journeys. Travelers without a good excuse will be asked to turn around. If they don't comply, officers will inform their Welsh counterparts so they can take action because Gloucestershire police don't have the authority to fine people traveling from Wales, the department said.

Schools from New Jersey to California have been hit with layoffs since the pandemic struck, but many have been insulated so far from the brunt of the economic slowdown by the federal relief package approved in March — which included $13.2 billion for K-12 education — and efforts taken by states to protect school budgets. With hopes for many school budgets riding on a new round of federal aid under discussion in Washington, and significant concern lingering over the pandemic's economic impacts, urban areas that lack the property wealth of suburban communities are especially vulnerable to aid cuts.
