My mother was not a mother She was a monster in disguise I wanted to be other I knew I was no prize I loved and protected With everything I had My own flesh and blood Mom with no dad I tried to make a family With the pieces scattered But in trying to save them Ended up battered I fought for years, repeating To try to bring them home Ending in my heart bleeding Winding up alone Though I was the victim I did everything I must Can't comprehend the system That children cannot trust My only hope is eventually When they are fully grown They will come back and find me And finally come home....
