SIFC chip

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is set to implement a plan for developing a semiconductor and chip design industry in Pakistan, targeting multibillion-dollar investment, as reported by Express Tribune. The initiative requires the government to offer tax incentives and support to attract foreign investment, particularly from China and the U.S., for establishing chip design centers. A semiconductor manufacturing foundry would need an estimated investment of $6-7 billion, with the country facing a shortage of trained professionals.

Social Networks Are Not Good for Publishers

Most publishers strive to maintain a presence on social media, with the expectation that it will increase traffic to their websites, and therefore increase revenue. In addition to paying for social media managers, they also often encourage their writers to post regularly on their own personal accounts (meaning reporters are spending time marketing instead of reporting). There is little evidence this actually increases revenue beyond the cost of supporting that presence (if that).

Go against the Grain

In today's world of fast-paced trends and constantly changing fashion advice, it can be tempting to follow the crowd and adhere to the standard rules of dressing. However, I believe that sometimes going against the grain and embracing your own unique style can be just as, if not more, impactful. One area where this is particularly evident is in the realm of wearing suits.

Disasterous January and an Upbeat perspective.

January was a tough month for me. It started off on a devastating note when my workplace burned down unexpectedly. I was left unemployed for a few weeks, unsure of what my next step would be. Eventually, I was fortunate enough to get one of my old jobs back, but it was just a means to pay the bills. It was during this period of uncertainty that I realized the importance of having backups and alternative sources of income.

The Castle of WishesMar 29, 2024

When a person makes a wish, they typically wish for something...normal. Ish. Something like a pony. Something like more money, or a better future. Or, maybe, a person will wish for things to stay the same. Whatever the case may be, there do happen to be some people that wish for...something abnormal. Something like the ability to fly. Or even the ability to time travel. But...what happens if those abnormal wishes come true? And what in the world does a castle have to do with it all?

While there were other options available like GEnie, Prodigy, and Compuserve, AOL somehow became the dominant platform for me. In a time when ATM cards didn't function as credit cards and credit card companies weren't handing them out like candy, AOL stood out as the go-to platform for internet access. Little did I know that it would become the last one standing, and I remained a part of it for nearly two decades, from 1993 to 2014.
