While Notd wasn't created to compete with "social networks", it is a network - we call it a "public media network" because the public can post on it. The "social" networks are also public networks, with different business models that conveniently allow them to externalize costs to society. And we also compare it to a service that is definitely not a network nor is "social", because many writers that use networks to promote their work have started using that service.
