"To boat or not to boat...that is the question." I giggled as I walked up the boat, giving my best Shakespearean voice. I had never gone fishing before, but this was a bucket list activity, so today was the day. I chose an off-the-beaten-path place with only a few boats to rent, and the space was relatively quiet. It was solitude I wanted. When I arrived, there was only one boat left. It was a row boat. Great. The man in the office was odd; he was mysterious. A little weird but not frightening. He gave me a pack of complimentary supplies and pointed at the small row boat at the end of an old dock.  He smiled and gave me a nod, saying, "May you have a wild adventure." I smiled. Again, that was weird. Oh well. I accepted the package and made my way to the dock. Getting in the boat was enough of a wild adventure for me; I'm not exactly an adventure girl. I tumbled into the boat, slowly got my bearings, and searched the ores. Sigh. Figures the step to a relaxing day would involve exercise. Here we go. I started to row and moved slowly through the water. Wow, this was hard. I watched the scenery go by as I rowed, it was beautiful. It was hard to relax while doing cardio. I began to sweat, and my muscles began to feel the work. Ouch. I better find a place to fish soon. The waters were too busy, and the currents were flowing just a little too hard for what I wanted to do. So, I kept rowing. Soon, I came to a split, a choice...do I go to the right or left? Hm. I glanced at both, and it seemed they were very similar, so I shrugged and went to the right. I rowed for a few minutes when the current suddenly became stronger and began to pull me. I was startled but kept calm. I placed the ores back in the boat and let them drift. I drifted into a glade with a tall willow that dipped into the water, trees, flowers, and sparking sunlight. It was so beautiful. The boat came to an easy stop as the current ceased. And there I was. It was like a fairy tale. I rested momentarily, letting my arms rest after all that rowing. Then, I unpacked the complimentary supplies. Some fishing supplies – bait, hooks and weights...and a spyglass. Again weird. I set my fishing line, took out a book, sat, and enjoyed it. Mm peaceful. I sat there for about an hour in sheer paradise when I heard rustling from the shore. I looked and couldn't see anything. The noise continued, rustling and giggling, like children playing in the bushes. I looked again, but nothing. I remembered the spyglass. Maybe it's just beyond what I could see. So I took the spyglass and was amazed. Small little beings flying around and playing. What ...are these fairies? I lowered the spyglass, but there was nothing. I raised it to look into it, and there they were. Faries! But I could only see them through the spyglass. So I watched them for hours. Flying around and playing. A few of them even came over and played with me. When the sun started to slip into the horizon, they disappeared into the woods. My adventure was, and what an adventure it was!

When I returned to the office, the guy asked if I had caught fish. Funny, I spent so much time watching the fairies that I didn't even try to catch any fish. I said no and handed the spyglass back. He shook his head and said, "This is yours. They chose you. Did you enjoy your adventure?" I smiled and nodded. I had a great adventure. I go back from time to time to see my little friends. I often wonder what I would have seen if I had gone the other way. I guess life is filled with choices.
