Telling stories. Day 7: Solace

I stand tall in a space where people like to come. A place of calm and beauty. Where they sit, sign, relax, read, and ease. They come from different areas for different reasons. And there is no judgment or requirements to be here with me. I guess they like that part. I know I do. And I love my group of companions that come. There is the young woman who comes and cries while she holds me. There is the man who sits and plays guitar for hours, people gather to listen and sometimes sing along with his playing. There is the artist who sketches and writes, creating magic as the space inspires her. Her art is fantastic; sometimes, she leaves a sketch or poem. Then, the kids who run around, screaming and playing – that can be rough, but I love it. And the old couple who sit and feed birds, holding hands. They've been together forever. And they are my favorite!
I have stood here for hundreds of years. I have watched much change in the world and in people. I have seen hate, pain, and destruction. But for me... it's always the same. They call me Oak, and I love that I am a place of zen, joy, release, connection, fun, and just to be. I feel like everyone needs that place from time to time. It gives me pleasure to be in that place where people find peace and solace.
My name is Oak. Come sit with me. Come feel better.
