The Beautiful Chaos of My Writing Process
For me, writing is equal parts pure joy and absolute chore. I love it deeply, but there are days when the weight of the process feels heavy, and I get completely bogged down.
Then, there are the moments where the words flow out like a steady stream of tap water. When that happens, I relish every second. I’ll push myself to write as many words as I possibly can during those windows—it’s my way of stockpiling for the inevitable dry spells of writer’s block.
I’m also a pretty chaotic writer by nature. Sometimes I have a strict outline, and sometimes I have nothing at all. But there is one thing I do that I think would give most people a total migraine: I rarely work on just one book at a time. Right now, I’m juggling about seven different projects, jumping back and forth between them. It sounds wild, but I’ve found that the variety actually helps me focus better.
It’s a bit of a balancing act, but it’s my process. Thanks for reading through my crazy thoughts—I’d love to hear your take on how you manage your own creative flow!
