Allison was gently awakened by sunlight streaming through the bedroom window blinds. While still groggy, the first thing she notices is the smell that was tickling her limbic system when she fell asleep. It’s still there. It’s a strange combination of barely-there saltwater taffy and bubble gum. There’s just a hint of sea breeze, tar, and sunscreen, as if she were standing on Rehoboth Beach right now with her parents. It’s so faint — barely a whisper.
