Iceland is known for its beautiful landscapes, great healthcare, but perhaps one of the littlest known facts is that it houses the world’s oldest Parliament. Tucked away in the national park of Thingvellir, the original Althing began in 903 AD and so remained in this town until 1798. During it’s long tenure it was witness to wars, famines, uprisings, and monarchal falls like dominoes all around them.
