Chapter 1 Bloodlines

There was a crisp breeze on a Monday morning in New York city The alarm clock blared the radio talk show at 5 a.m. as Mitchel springs an arm over it from a face in pillow motionless body. Rolling out of bed today seems like every other day the same process in repeat. Like an observer he feels like a master in control of his body that is just a puppet.

Making his way down his central city high rise as his elevator reached the corridor he was complimented by the usually faces. Only the average good morning smiles in a mundane sea of un-said truths, that lingered around the Aura of strangers and friends. His curiosity into human nature has always been perplexing but always well defined.

The route to work was only a few blocks by foot a real convenience for Mitch in New York City. As he made his way to the crosswalk everything seemed like a normal day in Manhattan. Joining a group of pedestrians on the corner Mitch stares at the blank faces across the street lost in a transit comma.

Suddenly it was as if the air itself froze, and from out of isolation a robbed figure appeared as the only center of light in a cloud of darkness. The world stood still for Mitch as the robbed figure looks up in his direction revealing blue piercing eyes and slender cheek bones. Memories of what feels like a previous life intrude into his thoughts. Just as fast as the obscurity began the streetlight changed green and the walk symbol appeared. The grey frozen fog lifted to life colorful and flowing. The pedestrians moved with ease around Mitch to the crosswalk. Mitch still caught in the moment motionless lost I'm his own reality.

After building up the courage to move Mitch makes his way through Manhattan to the Bank of America tower. Mitch has been with the company going on give years now as a system analysis straight out of college.

Mitch’s office was on the 32nd floor of the massive high rise. The usual security scan led the start of a common routine for Mitch despite the earlier encounter. So much that during the elevator ride he could no think of anything else making him almost miss his floor. The office or cubicle Mitch was assigned was small but appropriate he dived into his work and brushed off previous thoughts. "Novak" shouted Mr. Henderson startling Mitch in his seat. Mr. Henderson tends to call people by the last name when he gets frustrated not a good sign. "I want those TPS Reports on my desk by the end of the day today ok Novak" he declared. Was it already noon, had he been in a trance for the last three hours? At least it looks like he subconsciously finished his work as he put the computer to sleep and made way to the break room. Steve was already making a mess of the microwave by the time Mitch made it to break. " So" he exclaimed I want details how was the blind date anything like her profile?
