Frigid night air swirled about the the grassy knoll, weaving between the inscribed headstones and cheaply built wooden crosses. The man stood shivering before the open casket and unpacked earth wishing to be in his warm room in the inn, drinking a stout ale. Not actually practicing his forsaken magic, but the time had come to see how practical all this studying had done him. He stared at the poor soul he had decided to use for this spell, to give life to something so passed death that it's descendants wouldn't even know his or her name. The stone above the casket had a faint indention on it, but you could barely make it out with the moss covering it. "Welp, I guess I better get started." the man said to himself and towards the skeleton. His spell had confused him when studying, the original script was poorly translated, UNDEAD SHALL BE FILLED WITH LIFE. The lack. of specification had made him a little uneasy. But it had been straight forward, and since discovering his talent for causing small movements with magic he thought he ought to try something strange. So he held up the a piece of clothing that he had found on the street for the spell, a personal item of someone recently deceased. Holding it up he began to chant the latin words that cause his tongue to hurt moving rapidly to create odd sounds. After the he had repeated the chant loudly he heard his voice echo far in the distance.

Everything stilled upon the hill, his breathe caught in his throat as he listened. His eyes darted about from the skeleton to the trees nearby searching for something to happen. A cold chill rose up his spine, brushing the hairs on the back of his neck as he waited. A minute passed without any movement, all that could be heard was his shallow breathing. Cold beads of sweat dotted his forehead, he grew anxious. Another minute passed, his let out a deep breath. "Fuckin hell, all that for nothing eh?" He felt himself smile towards the skeleton. After another moment of waiting he bent over and began chucking the moved dirt back onto the casket laughing to himself. "Oy! you fat git stop that!" A voice pierced through his slight jubilation. The man jumped back from the hole he had dug, suddenly afraid.

Movement stirred within the pile of dirt, very small yet aggressive. Sifting its way forth towards the bewildered man. He stumbled back further scared of what manner of undead thing he might've brought back from the dead. The dark brown earth fell from the pile as the he felt himself grow light-headed. His knees buckled beneath him, the starry sky fell away to darkness as his vision began to swim. He felt nauseous as he collapsed forward unconscious on the cold grass. As the darkness pulled him further away, he noticed a small yellowed skeleton moving from the dirt. Then nothing.
