Scott Frost Given Another Year To Turn It Around In Nebraska
Scott Frost owns a 15-27 record at Nebraska which at most colleges he would have already been shown the door, but not at Nebraska. Frost was a star at Nebraska and loved by the Cornhusker faithful. Even though his record has not been stellar the program has come a long way under his leadership. Better recruits along with teams that seem to play well week in and week out against good competition.
Frost restructured his contract and fired some coaches as part of the deal for him to stay another year. In other words both sides had to give a little. This is a good move for Nebraska on a few fronts. Firing him now would make it tough to recruit new players into the system. Nebraska has got some incoming talent that they do not want to lose right now.
Secondly, is there really a better option that would fit into what Nebraska wants as a coach. I doubt they would find someone right now better then Frost. Third I do not think Nebraska wanted to spend what it would take to buyout Frost's contract as well. Lastly, Nebraska sees how much his players love him and playing for him. These days it's hard to keep a team together when they are losing but Frost has. Nebraska has had one of the toughest schedules in all of college football and Nebraska has been very competitive this season.
My final thought is this is the right direction to go with the program. With two games remaining players can now work on the final two games and look forward to 2022. This is a big lift off their shoulders and can only help the Cornhuskers moving forward.
