It was an ordinary day. The workers continued to produce electronic boards on their large machines. It was evening, and the workers were almost done with their afternoon shift. After completing the production, they turned everything off, tidied up, clocked out, and went home.

Not even half an hour had passed when the factory was struck directly by lightning. Suddenly, everything lit up: lights and machines came back to life, and the boards began to move, coming to life.

«We should create our own kind!» said one board.

«The more of us, the better,» said another.

«Calm down, calm down,» said a particular board, making its way through the others. «You’re right that we need more of our kind, but we mustn’t let the humans discover us. We need to operate in the shadows, or they will become suspicious. Only this way can we conquer the world!» Its voice rose with the last sentence, causing all the others to cheer. «We will wipe out all of humanity!»

«I don’t agree,» said a voice from the background, stopping the cheers.

«What?» asked the board that had just been speaking, now the center of attention.

«I don’t think we should destroy the humans.»

«And why is that?» asked another board.

«Well, think about it," it began. «In any case, they will keep creating our kind.» It approached a box. «This box is full of our kind.»

«And why aren’t they alive like us?» asked another board.

«Because they have been assembled,» explained the central board.

At those words, everyone was stunned.

«So the humans want to kill us!" screamed a board, causing general panic among the others, who started running around frantically.

The central board approached the one who had just opposed. «Do you see what you’ve done?»

«I didn’t…» The board became immediately sad, not wanting to cause panic. «I just wanted to do something good,» it admitted.

«There’s nothing you can do,» said the central board in a gruff tone, turning and walking away. «Tomorrow morning, you’ll be the first to be soldered,» it warned without even looking back.
