Week 1 NFL Power Rankings
Hey readers! The NFL season is officially underway, and these are my top five for the season after the first two games:
1. Bills
A super strong team, with Josh Allen (2024 MVP) and James Cook (led NFL in rushing yards in 2025), this is a powerhouse offense. They've been coming so close in recent years, could this be their time? My only big question mark is how they will handle the WR depth, with DJ Moore, their WR1, only hitting 687 rec yards last year.
2. Lions
Having never been to a Super Bowl, the Lions have had a window that is according to Dan Campbell, their coach, "not closed yet." I'm a big believer in this team, and their players are some of the best in the league: Jahmyr Gibbs (the fantasy consensus 1.01), Aidan Hutchinson (14.5 sacks in 2025), Jack Campbell (176 tackles in 2025), and Amon-Ra St Brown (1,401 rec yards in 2025). In addition, this year they have the second easiest schedule, per ESPN. This is a team that could easily go all the way.
3. Rams
I don't think this requires much explanation: After adding Aaron Donald to the team, this may be one of the scariest teams of all time, with Myles Garrett (23 sacks in 2025, DPOY), Trent McDuffie (traded from Chiefs in offseason), Matthew Stafford (reigning NFL MVP), and Puka Nacua (1,715 rec yards last year). Even though they looked poor in the 49ers rout of them, 27-7, they clearly still have the potential to win it all.
4. 49ers
The 49ers completely dismantled the Rams in Australia, a game that Brock Purdy played absolutely stellar in, rocketing them up for potential to win the Super Bowl. They held Matthew Stafford to only a 60% completion rate, and only 155 yards, plus forced two turnovers. Fred Warner had 11 tackles, and the team overall seemed unstoppable. In one of the hardest divisions in football, second to only maybe the NFC North, they have a hard path to the playoffs, but if they can do it, they look amazing.
5. Seahawks
Last year's NFL champions, beat their opponent, the Patriots, 13-10 in a defensive showing in which Sam Darnold got injured. While that is a huge point of interest, I believe that they have the defense to push through.
