Introduction to me and Gaming Photography

free note

Hello! My Username is Asynckronism (On certain platforms) and I am a Gamer. I've also dabbled in Photography and decided to mix the two. I was always astounded with the setting of video games and how amazing the visuals of a game could be. The artists and developers didn't have to go that far to show us the beauty of the world they created but they did. It's sometimes a sight to behold and other times its just a weird happenstance and angle that allowed that photo to be.

To get into Gaming Photography I would suggest putting the settings to something the hardware can handle without blowing it up. Photos are no good when the hardware is struggling to keep up! Next up is to check out the HUD settings or to see if there is a hotkey to disable the HUD entirely. Getting rid of the HUD and any 'game' elements meant for the player is crucial. Next up is knowing where the Screenshot button is. Have one or make one but always know. Next is lining it all up. Sometimes it takes lowering the sensitivity and other times it takes 'slight' nudges. Do whatever it takes to get that angle and spam that screencapture/shot button until the moment is taken! It may take multiple shots and attempts but the end result is usually worth it.

Photo taken from Helldivers 2. I like to give 'Photo Titles' to make it more official. I'll call this one 'Setting Demise' . Not for any 'artistic' reason but for the fact that the sun was setting and we were probably on our last reinforcement against the bots. My Helldiver got blown down a hill via a rocket and when I got up I saw this pretty view and turned off the HUD and snapped a quick photo before returning to the fight. Such is life for Super Earth.

Anyway, I think all players have a story to go with their photo and that story adds so much depth to a photo than many think. I know Gaming Photography will be the next big thing and I would like to spread the word about this newfound profession to as many potential 'Virtual Photographers' as possible.

Thank you for checking out my note.

Happy Gaming!
