Today we’re going to be talking about a famous m*rder story throughout England.

The story of Myra Hindley and her lover Ian Brady. *There are mixed emotions of her involvement in this.* Myra Hindley is known for being the most hated woman in Britain. Between July 1963 and October 1965, Myra Hindley and Ian Brady k*dnapped, r*ped, and m*rdered a mix of five children/teenagers and then buried their bodies on the Saddleworth Moor in North West England.

**Disclaimer**

I’ve been researching this story through various articles and documentary videos. These are my retelling of these tragic events. I am deeply sorry for the victims and their families.

Myra Hindley was born on July 23rd of 1942 in a suburban area in Manchester, England. When she was about 4 years old her sister Maureen was born. Leaving them to struggle quite a bit more than they already were. According to some research I found, she was claimed to be raised in an ordinary Manchester working-class family. However Myra was indeed raised by her grandparents.

Her life wasn’t very easy growing up, though she was said to have a few friends. She was also known to get picked on in school. Myra became friends with a 13-year-old boy named Michael Higgins when she was 15-years-old. Michael had ended up drowning in a reservoir. She personally took this event hard. They were friends. She ultimately felt that if she were there with him the day he died that she could have saved him from drowning. Maybe he’d still be alive. This possibly messed her head up quite a bit. Depression had to be high for her because she had dropped out of school a little while after this.

Now we’re going to jump ahead a few years. When she was 18-years-old, she started working as a secretary at Millwards Merchandising, which was a manufacturer of various oil and soap products located on Levenshulme Road, Manchester. This is where things start to get tricky. She met an older boy around the age of 23 at the time of her being 18. They met at Millwards Merchandising. This was around 1961. His name is… Ian Brady. Ian Brady quickly became something of a fantasy for Myra. She admired him, noting his attractiveness. Even going as far as to write journal entries in her diary about him.

Now Ian Brady was the bad boy type. He had run-ins with law enforcement before. He actually was quite controlling. When the two started together she was a “yes man” type of woman. She wanted to impress Ian so bad. They escalated their relationship further. He was testing her loyalty at times in the beginning, planning out a r*bbery stunt. Once he saw that she was serious about everything he definitely used it to his advantage. The r*bbery ideas would eventually lead to r*pe and m*rder ideas…

In July of 1963, Myra was close to 21 years of age when the 1st r*pe and m*rder happened. They were sort of practicing how they’d carry out these acts. Their 1st victim was a young teenager aged 16 Pauline Reade, she had gotten abducted on her way to a local disco in Manchester. A short four months later, they abducted 12-year-old John Kilbride and strangled him on Saddleworth Moor. The following year, they took 12-year-old Keith Bennett as their third victim. Lesley Ann Downey - 10-years-old - then disappeared from a fairground just 200 yards from her home on Boxing Day of 1964. The final victim was 17-year-old Edward Evans, who had been bludgeoned to death in the flat (apartment) Brady and Hindley shared. All these victims were killed essentially in the same way. S*xually a**aulted and then m*rdered. Their bodies as previously mentioned were buried in Saddleworth Moor. The couple thought everything was fine. They had a fun time together just killing these innocent kids…

Until soon after the brother-in-law of Myra Hindley came forward to the police. He had claimed he had seen the murder of Edward Evans. He came forward apparently because he feared for his life after Ian Brady tried convincing him to participate in the future murders to come. Hindley and Brady went to trial in April of 1966.

A couple years after this Myra released a confession of her involvement in the situation. She claims that children warm up to women more than men and so she was responsible for luring them in. This showed many surprised people that evil can exist in females! This case was just shocking to many of the community.

Hindley was sentenced to life in prison.

On the 15th of November, 2002, 60-year-old Myra Hindley died from bronchial pneumonia at West Suffolk Hospital, completing her life sentence.
