In 2017, my family and I learned the devastating news that my mother was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. In 2018, she lost her battle and passed away in January. I had a long journey of grieving and healing, and at the same time I had to figure out being a single mother to my 5 year old daughter without having the reassurance and guidance of my own mother.
