Simply put, I'm a Gen X guy trying to figure out what this world has come to. I write about all aspects of life. I have what many have described as a unique outlook on life. I'm very stubborn and for some odd reason I feel the need to learn things the hard way. Matter of fact, it's the thing I do best.

I've dodged death several times. I've been shot at from 3 feet away and the shooter missed. I dove head first off of a boat into 2 feet of murky water and broke my neck. I didn't even go to the hospital. I put a neck brace on for 6 or 7 weeks until my neck didn't hurt anymore. It wasn't until 20 years later when I rolled a semi truck full of apples that I learned my neck had been broken. My fiancé and I both should have died in that wreck, but we both walked away with minor cuts and bruises. I have been in 2 motorcycle wrecks. One without a helmet that I limped away from with a bunch of bruising and road rash. Another that sent me to a hospital with a crushed foot. This wreck would have killed me for sure if I had not been wearing a helmet. While working a warehouse job, a pallet of 22lb boxes suddenly collapsed and rolled from the top shelf 16 feet above me, knocking me to the ground and splitting my head open like a banana. I definitely should have gone to the hospital. Instead, I slapped a butterfly bandage on it and returned to work the next day. I've had a couple of more brushes with death, but I have to leave something for content.

Most of the people I know now think I'm pretty docile and passive. Notice that I said "people I know," not friends. That's because I don't have many friends. Outside of my job as a karaoke jockey, I'm not very well liked. I'm so overly blunt that I'll tell you that your shirt is ugly even if you don't ask for my opinion. I'm considered by most to be a know-it-all. While I will admit to coming across that way, it's not intended. I just have a broad range of interests and don't speak about a subject that I'm not 100% confident in my knowledge of that subject. Like I said, they think I'm passive. And I guess that's true inasmuch that I believe physical fighting is a last resort. But, push me far enough and I'll open a can of Whoop-Ass, pull a beer bottle out of it and break that bottle with your teeth.

As far as politics goes, I don't fit in on either side. I'm Gen X, so Schoolhouse Rocks! taught me that knowledge is power. I'm a firm believer that the biggest problem in this country is voluntary ignorance. Just about everyone agrees that the government is corrupt and the media is biased. Yet both sides claim the news service of their choice is reporting the unbiased truth. Each side also believes that their side is less corrupt than the other. It seems that no one wants to take the time to do their own research and to find the truth. They just stick to whatever story collaborates their belief the best. From what I've observed, 99% of people would rather use their pocket computer (aka cell phone) to play a game instead of increasing their knowledge. Hence the term, "voluntary ignorance." Since I prefer to use my phone to learn, I've come to believe 2 very sad things about politics. One side is called the left wing left wing and the other side the right wing because each wing belongs to the same bird. That bird is a vulture. The other thing I've learned about politics is that voting for the lessor of 2 evils is still evil. Most people agree with this sentiment. So, why anyone would knowingly vote for evil blows my mind.

Despite all of my social shortcomings, I've managed to be married twice, one of which I'm still locked to with a ball and chain. I have 3 kids with thee different women one of which is my current wife. I was 18 when my namesake was born. His mother took off with him when he was 2 years old and I've only seen him a handful of times. The other two daughters are both teenagers. One is with my current common law wife of 15 years and the other my my ex-fiancé. Funny thing. They aren't quite a year apart. And yes. My ex-fiancé's daughter is the older of the 2. The crazy part is that I'm still occasionally sleeping with my ex and the current knows about it and doesn't care. I'm sure all the men reading this article just thought "Hell yeah!" While the women... Well who knows what the women thought. I sure don't. If I did, I'd be rich and wouldn't be trying to make money by writing on a blog site.

Well, if I continue to write here, I won't have anything to write about. I'll be writing on a variety of subjects... Life and political observations mostly. But occasionally I'll be writing about the biker lifestyle and I'll be posting chapters from a book I've been wanting to write. Basically it will be kind of Mark Twain style. Something written in a fictional style, but everyone will still believe it to be an autobiography. I'll have at least 4 posts per week, one of which will be free. My charge will be $3 per month or $30 per year. I know that may seem high to some, but if you break it down with a minimum of 16 articles per month each article only costs 17 cents to read if you purchase a monthly subscription or 14 cents per article if purchased yearly. Maybe there's something in this article you'd like me to expand on or maybe you have a particular subject that you'd like to get a different perspective on. Leave me a comment. Good or bad, it doesn't matter. Remember, I'm Gen X. Sticks and stones may break my bones, BUT WORDS CAN NEVER HURT ME.

You can publish here, too - it's easy and free.
