The Invisible Bear: A Poem About Trauma
The invisible Bear
Awake after memories creeping
They intrude my mind they violate me
They crawl on my skin and touch my body
Where it's most vulnerable I don't tell nobody
I capture the thoughts and bury them under
Nothing I try seems to work any wonders
I shake my heart pounding my eyes open wide
Desperately look for the trigger but can't find the why
I scream
I cry
I stutter
I swear
Why am I so afraid of the invisible bear
I want to be freed from this mental war
That wages in my head leaves me on the floor
