

Chapter 10: A Sleigh Ride to Remember


Juniper drummed her fingers against the steering wheel, the faint strains of a holiday tune humming through the car speakers. Snow-covered fields stretched endlessly on either side of the narrow country road, and the sky was a flat gray that made everything feel even colder.
“How far out is this place again?” Juniper asked, her tone teetering on the edge of irritation.
Eve, perched in the passenger seat with her camera bag wedged between her feet, grinned at the question. “Not much further. Just past that bend up ahead, I think.”
“You said that fifteen minutes ago,” Juniper muttered, adjusting her scarf as the heater blasted warm air into the car.
Eve shrugged, undeterred. “Time flies when you’re having fun.”
