Lady the ladybug had been very productive during the day. It was a Monday, after all. Her friend Beetle had always said how important it was to stay positive about Mondays—and he was right.

As Lady tucked herself into bed, she gently reflected on her day.

She relaxed her eyebrows and closed her eyes, thinking about the dishes she had washed that morning. She relaxed her shoulders, remembering the bit of gardening she had accomplished. She relaxed her legs, smiling as she thought about the sandwich she made for dinner.

Just as Lady began to drift into peaceful sleep… her foot twitched.

Her eyes opened wide.“What was that?” she asked aloud.

Nothing happened.

So Lady closed her eyes again, ready to rest her tired little body.

Twitch, twitch.

Lady sat up suddenly and wiggled her feet, trying to shake the feeling away. When the covers were all bunched up around her ankles, she felt satisfied enough to lay back down, pulling the blanket over her head.

Twitch, twitch, twitch.

Lady gasped. What on earth was going on with her feet?

The twitching grew so overwhelming that she had to get out of bed. She marched in place, trying to trick her feet into thinking they were going somewhere—but it didn’t help.

She tried jumping jacks to get her heart pumping. She hopped on one leg.She kicked a few yarn balls around. She tiptoed across the room…and even did a cartwheel!

Nothing worked.

Lady was exhausted. Her feet just wouldn’t settle.

“Well,” she sighed, “I might as well make some tea since I’m up.”

And that’s exactly what she did.

She filled her shiny green kettle and waited for it to whistle its little lungs out. Then she poured the hot water into her favorite pink teacup and added a big, gloppy spoonful of honey to her tea.

Lady sat on her little sofa, quietly sipping.

As she neared the bottom of her cup, she paused.Something felt… different.

Her feet were calm.

Lady didn’t even stop to think—just in case it was a trick. She jumped up, hurried to her bed, and tucked herself in as quickly as she could.

This time, she drifted into sleep without a single twitch.

Just before she fell asleep, she whispered,“Thank you, feet.”

As she drifted off, Lady realized something new—

her feet hadn’t needed all that hopping and jumping after all.

They just needed a quiet moment,

a warm cup of tea,

and a little patience.💕
