AI has created a couple of different problems for people.

First, either you're using AI actively and admitting it, which instantly creates a stigma, even if you are genuinely writing and thinking for yourself.

Or second, you don't use AI but you write really well and so people accuse you of using AI. But you're just a writer who knows how to write. Let's be honest using AI doesn't immediately mean you've done anything wrong or make you a bad writer. It just means you used AI.

So where does that leave good writers? In a position of having to dumb down their work or make intentional grammatical errors to appease the "this is too perfect to be authentic" people.

AI isn't going to make everything fake. It's going to create a space where we will argue against polished, professional work. That is the inherent danger of AI. The need to try to filter out all AI assisted work will create a space where good, error free work is no longer accepted. That is far more problematic to me than a space filled with AI generated content.

If the only way we have to discern between AI generated work and non AI generated work is grammatical mistakes, we have a bigger problem than AI producing vast quantities of content on demand.

We will intentionally dumb ourselves down to stay under the AI radar and that doesn't end well for anyone.
