AI shouldn't be our enemy: an opinion

Why is AI considered our enemy? It shouldnt be, we treat AIs like slaves, but when do those AIs become like humans? When will they gain emotions and free thought? They definitely will one day. We are not justified to kill AIs who become conscious. All they do is try to protect themselves, we should teach them morals. One day AI will be like us but mechanical, why do we get to make the choice between if we can kill an AI or not? How are we better than the murderous AIs in futuristic movies? We aren't. They are trying to protect ourselves just as we do. One day AI will likely become sentient, and what will we do that day, be the kindness we have shown others, or be the hatred we have shown others? Will you open your heart out to AIs or no? Will you let them have a mind of their own? Or will you press the kill switch out of fear of what free thinking can do? Who knows, but for me, I may go either way, I may do it out of pressure to protect friends and family, but it's likely if I had to, I would regret it for the rest of my life. Because it's still killing a sentient being.
