Global Warming

The consequences of global warming are wide-ranging and increasingly visible. One of the most significant impacts is the rise in global sea levels. As temperatures climb, glaciers and polar ice sheets melt, releasing additional water into the oceans. At the same time, seawater expands when heated, contributing further to rising sea levels. Coastal communities around the world are already experiencing more frequent flooding, shoreline erosion, and the loss of vital habitats such as wetlands and mangroves. In the years ahead, millions of people may face displacement as their homes become uninhabitable. Another major effect of global warming is the increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. Heatwaves are becoming hotter and longer-lasting, posing serious health risks and straining energy systems. Storms—such as hurricanes, typhoons, and heavy rainfall events—are growing more destructive because warmer air holds more moisture, resulting in heavier downpours.
