Who I am and What I'm Writing
For starters, I am Ash Corvin. I have always enjoyed writing. I once had a deviantArt page dedicated to it. I had a couple of stories and even some poems on there. Sometimes, I'd get inspiration from a song and felt there was a story I could create (still do sometimes), but haven't found the words. That being said, somehow I have never made a playlist that makes me think of a specific book or character. I have a small 3-4 song playlist right now that I've created for my in progress book, Secrets Beneath the Pines. I might share it once I add more to it. I have a husband and son, both of whom I love very much. I love to read. I'm currently in the middle of the Locked Tomb series, and my husband is trying to get me into Dungeon Crawler Carl.
Now about my book. For starters, I grew up loving Buffy the Vampire Slayer and having an obsession with vampires. That has calmed down significantly in my adulthood, but I still enjoy them. I have also always been fascinated with abandoned hospitals and mental hospitals. My husband and I were watching a youtube video of some guys exploring an abandoned mental hospital that happened to still have power. This sparked the first of what I am calling the "Evergreen Falls Stories." That is a different in progress book that we can talk about another day, but it is what sparked Secrets Beneath the Pines. They both take place in a fictional Oregon town called Evergreen Falls. I haven't decided how the timelines match up yet.
Secrets Beneath the Pines is a sapphic story about a young woman who left city life after a fallout with her friends and not feeling like she could be who she is. So, she found a small town near a forest in another state for a completely fresh start. She finds a job working nightshift at a minimart pretty quickly and soon begins to fall for her coworker without realizing it. Meanwhile, she has caught the attention of an ancient and powerful vampire who pursues her relentlessly.
This is my first romance, and I am very excited about it.
