Coalition and comptroller oppose considering fusion voting with public financing

Concerned that a series of preliminary decisions by the state Public Financing Commission will result in a “weak and unworkable” public financing system focused more on protecting incumbents than reducing corruption in New York, the Fair Elections campaign released a letter this week highlighting those concerns and identifying components seen as crucial to the implementation of an effective system that could serve as a model for the rest of the nation. The campaign and the state comptroller both came out against tying up the question of fusion voting with the proposed public finance system.
