Surrendering
To surrender is to let go of control and aligning with the flow of life. To trust that what's meant for you will not pass you by. Although I still struggle with completely letting go I find life to be a lot more calming and peaceful when I'm going with the flow.
Surrendering is not a weakness or passivity. It's a deliberate choice to stop fighting what is and releasing the illusion to control everything. It's about distinguishing between action and being attached to outcomes. This is the self awareness in surrendering.
Self awareness is the conscious recognition of your thoughts, emotions, and impulses. Especially those that are rooted in resistance or control. In the context of surrendering it means noticing where you hold on too tightly to outcomes, people, or situations. Without awareness, surrender is impossible because you can't release what you don't see. Self awareness acts like a mirror once you see the resistance.
For example:
I'm frustrated with myself because I want perfection. The need to control everything is making me frustrated and causing me to want to quit because I'm not seeing the results I want.
When you shift your focus from perfection to consistency, accepting that the lack of perfection doesn’t undo your progress. You're just letting go of the mental struggle, treating it as a process rather than a battle.
Surrendering isn't about suppressing your feelings. Fully acknowledging your feelings is a key part of surrendering. By recognizing your emotions without judgment, you gain insight into what you're holding on to and you can deliberately release it.
Over time, this self awareness will become automatic, making surrendering an automatic response instead of a forced one.
