“Dyscalculia is a learning difficulty that affects my ability to understand and work with numbers. It makes everyday tasks like budgeting, reading clocks, and calculating distances much more difficult. Even simple math problems, such as adding or subtracting, can be overwhelming for me. I often struggle with tasks that involve numbers, which causes a lot of frustration. Emotionally, dyscalculia can be tough. I sometimes feel anxious or inadequate, especially when I compare myself to others who seem to pick up math concepts quickly. However, I’ve also learned that this is part of who I am, and I don’t need to feel ashamed of it. Through this experience, I’ve come to understand that I need to approach math differently. Using visual aids—like diagrams, charts, or color-coded notes—helps me understand and retain math concepts. I’ve found that breaking down complex problems into smaller, simpler steps makes things more manageable for me.”
