Life Hack #1: Denture tablets in the toilet tank??

My eldest daughter just ,thankfully , found a new job that she loves working with the elderly. This prompted me to remember my grandmother on my adoptive father's side. After her husband passed, she was inundated with a mass quantity of denture tablets, which she did not use because honestly she never wore her dentures. While I was helping her clean , I proceeded to throw them away and my grandma just about became unglued. "No! GIRL! Don't throw them away.I need them yet". I Looked at grandma confused because I know I had never seen her with her dentures in, ever, except for in church on Sundays sometimes. So imagine my surprise to her reaction. "OH GIRL, Come on, I will show you". I was a little uneasy at this point. I'm not sure if I was startled because of her quick reaction and raised voice or because I really didn't know what the heck she was gonna do with those denture cleanser tablets. Without saying a word, She took the tank lid off the back of the toilet and automatically had my curiosity reeling and full attention at this point. She then opened one tablet and dropped it into the toilet tank water mindful to keep it away from the valve and seals. Then she simply replaced the toilet tank cover and afterward wiped it down with a cloth. Then She looked at me and said "Well, I have more things to do with my time than struggle with stains on the toilet bowl". Aha moment achieved!

Grandma's house was always tidy. I remember. I often wondered if that's all she did was clean house and cook for my grandpa , but it turns out grandma had a few secrets. Haha, and this one I definitely remembered. Now, a Google search will tell you to be careful because denture tablets may strip the toilet bowl of its coating and exacerbate the opposite of your goal. It will also suggest simply placing the tablet in the bowl of the toilet and not the tank and letting it dissolve for thirty minutes before scrubbing the toilet bowl. Honestly, I have never noticed anything negative happen and I have been doing this for years with my late fiancee's leftover stockpile. I suppose there's a cautionary statement about anything we do nowadays so my disclaimer remains as such: If you notice this happening or any weird film , building up , or any chemical reaction that's negative , you may not want to go ahead and proceed with this cleaning method. There, I think I covered my butt.

Now , as somebody who has OCD , I fully admit that I used to obsess about the bathroom being clean , especially when my kids were at home. This life hack did make cleaning the toilet that much easier. I also did not have to worry so much about my daughter's tea parties with her dad as I remember my oldest daughter as a toddler Bringing her father and I "tea". Well, One day I was doing dishes and I went into the living room to make sure there were no more dirty dishes there. You know how it is, you think you're done only to find out you're NOT done. I then noticed that she had made her father some tea which was really disconcerting , because the bathroom sink was not working at the time and she hadn't come into the kitchen to get water. I then told her father, I wouldn't drink that tea If I were you. When he asked why. I reminded him about the bathroom sink being broken and informed him she hadn't been in the kitchen to get water in the last couple hours and the only water she could reach other than that was the toilet water. He started dry heaving , and honestly I was trying not to laugh out loud , but I bet he appreciated the fact that I used this life hack probably more than once. I think that was the day when tea parties came to an abrupt health as far as her father and my participation went. I believe that's when we started the "Care Bear Scare" Collection of over 17 different Care Bears of varying sizes, colors and vocal abilities In our living room so she would have plenty of tea party friends. AHH the joys of parenting!!!
