Doing Things One at a Time

No matter how many times I hear the phrase "your brain can't multitask" I still find myself ignoring the advice. Well I did, until I finally sat down in a quiet corner of the library and pulled open my to-do list. The difference in what I got done was spectacular. I finished studying for my test, completed my lab report draft, AND knocked out my daily 1,000 words.
The only thing I changed was that I left my earphones in my backpack. There was no stream or music to divide my attention. Then, instead of switching between task, I finished each task one at a time. I pushed myself to focus, and I was finished much sooner than I expected with results that I'm happy with. I even had time to take five minute breaks between tasks to let my brain relax before I was off the races.
I'd recommend you give it a try too, and let me know if you find some success in this too.
