free note

My foray into the world of online content creation began on BitTube, a platform promising a decentralized future. For three years, I diligently uploaded over 200 videos, lured by the promise of BitCurrency rewards. Sadly, the platform's fate took a turn for the worse. After several changes in ownership, the company was sold, rendering the BitCurrency worthless and erasing my entire video library. This experience left me disillusioned with the fleeting nature of online platforms and motivated me to seek a more stable and empowering path.

My search for a new home for my creative endeavors led me to explore alternative video editing software. I discovered a program with an excellent free version, but the paid version promised even better features. Sadly, my hopes for ownership were dashed when the company transitioned to a Software as a Service (SaaS) model. The rented versions offered significantly fewer features than the free version, all while carrying a hefty price tag. This realization solidified my aversion to the increasingly prevalent SaaS model, where users are constantly at the mercy of evolving subscription plans and limited ownership.

Driven by a desire for control and permanence, I turned to Linux and began learning Python. My goal is to either develop my own software or find open-source alternatives that grant me ownership and freedom. My experience with BitTube and the restrictive nature of SaaS has taught me a valuable lesson: true control and creative independence lie in embracing open-source solutions and learning the skills to manage them. This newfound knowledge has fueled my passion for building a future where I am not merely a user but a creator, owning and maintaining the tools that empower my artistic journey.
