The revolving door of life
The Revolving Door of Life
By Ezekiel Deuteronomy
Have you ever stopped to admire the complexities of a revolving door? Such a simple invention, yet beneath its turning glass lies a rather remarkable resemblance to life itself. Around and around it goes, never quite knowing who will enter, who will leave, or who might hesitate before taking that first step.
Life, you see, is much like a revolving door. It continues turning whether we're ready or not. Sometimes we find ourselves moving gracefully with its rhythm, while other times we misjudge our footing and get knocked backward. We stumble, we fall, and occasionally we find ourselves right back where we started. Yet the door continues to turn, offering another opportunity to step forward.
But perhaps the greatest challenge isn't the possibility of falling. Perhaps it's the fear of stepping through in the first place. How many opportunities have we watched pass us by simply because we were afraid of what awaited us on the other side? How many times have we stood motionless, watching the world turn, convincing ourselves that tomorrow would be a better time?
The truth is, life offers no guarantee of perfect timing. Sometimes we must gather our courage, trust our footing, and step into the unknown. We may stumble along the way, but even a misstep teaches us something about balance, patience, and perseverance.
And remember, a revolving door is not merely an entrance. It is also an exit. Sometimes we must leave behind what is familiar to discover what is waiting ahead. Not every opportunity will lead us where we expect, and not every journey will be easy. But remaining outside the door guarantees only one thing: we will never discover what lies beyond it.
So when life presents you with a revolving door, don't be afraid to approach it. Watch its rhythm, find your moment, and take that step. You needn't rush, nor must you follow the footsteps of those who entered before you.
After all, the beauty of life isn't found in never losing your footing. It's found in having the courage to regain it.
For the door will always turn, but the choice to walk through it belongs to you.
