I made a comment on YouTube about the false teachings of the Trinity. melmerc_sjn responded by saying… “You are ignoring the fact that John 1 explains how NOTHING was made without God the Son, aka JESUS, the Word of God. The Trinity is present from the first three verses of Genesis.”

Then I responded by saying, “John 1 does not teach that a second divine person called “God the Son” created the world. That title never appears in Scripture. The Bible says “the Son of God,” referring to God manifested in genuine human flesh.

John 1:1 states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The Word was not another God beside God. The Word was God Himself: His mind, purpose, wisdom, and self-revelation. John then tells us what happened to that Word:

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” John 1:14.

The Word did not become “God the Son.” The Word became flesh as the Son of God. The Son had a beginning through the virgin conception, but the eternal God who came in the Son had no beginning.

Genesis 1 does not identify three divine persons. It reveals one God acting through His Spirit and His spoken Word. Genesis 1:2 says, “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Verse 3 says, “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” God, His Spirit, and His Word are not three separate persons. Your spirit and your word are not separate persons from you.

Isaiah 44:24 settles who created everything: “Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself.”

God said He created everything “alone” and “by myself.” He did not say that two other divine persons helped Him.

Jesus is the visible revelation of that one invisible God. “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” Colossians 2:9. God did not send one divine person to represent another divine person. “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself.” 2 Corinthians 5:19.

I am not denying that Jesus is the Creator. I affirm it completely. Jesus is the Creator because the one eternal God who created all things came among us in the flesh. John 1 supports the incarnation of the one God. It does not require three eternal persons.”
