The Beach or the Mountains? It’s a question that’s often bantered between friends, debated among coworkers on break, and a subject of (hopefully) amicable discussion when planning the next family vacation. Personally, I prefer the mountains for several reasons, but the main one being that I HATE sand. You can try to wash it off, but it will haunt you like a ghost that wants to try on your shoes and follow you back to your car and hotel. But enough about sand. Recently, I led a group to Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge near Dawsonville, Georgia: home to the third-tallest waterfall on the east side of the Mississippi River. Cascading down 729 feet of cliffside, the waterfall offers a breathtaking reward if you decide to hike one of the several trails.
