Introduction
Hi! First of all, thank you for taking a look at my stream and notes. I wanted to do a little introduction about me and my family. I am a 30-year-old mother of five children, happily married, proud Autism mom, and homeschooling mom. Isabella (11 years old), Aldo (7 years old), Mason (5 years old), Reed (4 years old, and Amelia (3 years old). Big family, very chaotic, always busy, but we always have fun and create wonderful memories together.
Reed is my little on who was diagnosed with Autism. When he was born, I knew something was different about him (not in a bad way). I know that children hit their milestones at different ages, but when Reed was a baby, he wouldn't babble or try making any of those baby noises. His doctor wanted him to receive speech therapy, which I thought was crazy because he was still a baby. I went forward with it, and I am glad that I did. He started making slow progress, and I was thrilled. Although deep down I knew he had Autism, so I brought up my concerns with his doctor and we had him tested. A few signs that I noted are putting his hands over his ears, spinning, and hand flapping. When I received his results, I was so happy that I finally had his diagnosis in my hands, so I can continue to advocate for him and ensure that he receives all the services he is offered.
To wrap up my notes for today, if you know something is off with your child, bring it up to your doctor and advocate for your children.
