Many people including myself did not give Nebraska much chance in this game, but I was very surprised in the effort of the Cornhuskers. Going into the game Oklahoma were double digit favorites and rightly so, as Nebraska as struggled against ranked teams in the Scott Frost regime. This game from the start had a different feel and you could see Nebraska wasn't afraid facing the 3rd ranked team in the Nation.

Nebraska gave Oklahoma a very good game and they had chances to get the win, but untimely mistakes doomed the Huskers all game long. The offensive line committed way to many penalties and put Nebraska in numerous holes all day long. This has been a recurring problem and reared it's ugly head again in this game. Nebraska cannot afford these kinda of drive killers against a quality opponent like Oklahoma.

The kicking game missed two field goals and had an extra point blocked as well. One of the areas you can make mistakes is the kicking game. Nebraska gave away 8 points in the kicking game and that is part of the reason they lost today. Correcting the kicking game won't be easy, but it's something that must be done right away.

In the end, Nebraska fans should be happy with the effort of the Cornhuskers. They played well, but the mistakes killed them. If Nebraska can continue to play hard and remove the mistakes we could actually make a bowl game this season. Nebraska still has a tough remaining schedule, but hopefully this is a step in the right direction for a change.
