Sometimes I feel like a snake wrapped around a saw.

A constricting body, wrapping tighter and tighter around the very thing that's cutting deep into it’s skin.

The more I try to control it, the more it destroys me.

My blood seeps out onto the serrated blades, leaving traces of my failed attempt at being a better person.

The saw seemed like prey, like food that I can bring back to provide for my loved ones, like an opportunity to redeem myself

Tighter my skin wraps around the metal, cold iron pressing deeper and deeper in.

The scales begin to fall off, and with it fall all of the unfulfilled promises and broken vows, blood full of things I regret

Each droplet screams words that I wish I could’ve said, know I should’ve said

A mess of me is left on the ground, the grass stained with what a person I could have been.
