What are Autoimmune Diseases?

Autoimmune disease's happen when healthy cells are inadvertently attacked by the immune system, which is meant to defend us against dangerous infections. Consequently, the immune systems assault against these "foreign invaders" cause inflammation and harm to many organs and tissues. Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes are among the more than 80 recognised autoimmune illnesses.
