Split vision

Two men living in the same town, living two separate lives. Two men, one capable of vision, the other man blind. One knows the truth, the other is left in the dark. But one day they meet, and their world starts to shake; and just like that, their lives change forever. One learns the truth, and the other gains sight. Ace, a well-known eye doctor, meets a new patient who may change his life forever.

“Bear, was it? You were born blind right?”

“Yes,” Bear, a not-so-well-known man, is said to be a vision maker. Nowadays no one believes in them, but Ace loved talking about prophecies and ancient times. Ace and Bear, both unusual people who are known for different things by different people, come in contact once and their lives are changed forever. After they discuss the surgery, they find out a lot more about each other. Ace finds out that Bear has never even smelled flowers before, and Bear finds out Ace has never had his fortune read. Bear decides he wants to read his fortune, and Ace decides that he wants Bear to smell flowers, so they make it a date, a date in a flower field.

A couple weeks later Ace picks up Bear and takes him to the flower field. The flower field had roses, daisies, sunflowers, and even dandelions. There was a forest surrounding the field. On the date, Ace leads Bear out into the middle of the flower field where he prepares a small picnic for the both of them, on the top of the hill.

“So, how do they smell?”

“They smell different than what I was expecting.” Ace was staring at Bear, trying to figure out how he was going to do the surgery. Bear simply asks.

“Why do you keep staring, Ace?”

“How can you tell I was staring at you.”

“I know a lot about you, like you like wearing weird socks because they make you wear boring clothes, and the fact that you never wear your hair up even though it's very long. I hear and smell everything that goes on around me Ace. I am blind.” Ace just stared in shock trying to figure out what to do or say, but was snapped out of his trance when he heard.

“Give me your hand, and I'll read your fortune now.” Ace places his hand in Bear's outreached hand and waits and listens for Bear to start talking. Bear runs his hand all over Aces and interlocks their hands before saying.

“I can tell you many things but only one today, what do you want to know,”

“I want to know when I'll get married.”

“You never get married but you do find a lover soon, you guys just never get married.” There is a long pause of confusion on Ace's part before he hears Bear start speaking again.

“Are you gay, Ace?”

“Umm I am actually, how could you tell?”

“Why else would you not get married?” They both just sat there and laughed, then started talking about other things.

After about a week, Ace was finally ready to do the surgery on Bear. So it started. After hours of tedious work and a little recovery, Bear was out of surgery and laying in the ICU waiting to go home, with Ace by his side.

“Hay Bear, I wanted to ask you a question.”

“What is it?”

“Well, do you wanna go out sometime?”

“Ya.” After another week or two Bear was fully recovered and ready to see if he could see. Ace, standing at his side, takes off the bandages and waits for Bear to open his eyes. Bear opens his eyes and all he sees is blurs until.

“I can see you,” Bear says as he looks at Ace, for the very first time. Then he grabs Ace’s hand and kisses it, finally able to see for the very first time in his life.

After a couple of years had passed, Bear and Ace did have the ceremony but did not legally get married, seeing how it was illegal. Bear never lied and Ace never gave up. Who could see? Both of them in a different way. Having vision doesn't mean you can see, but being able to see doesn't mean having vision.
