Reservoir Dogs subverts some of the conventions of crime films by having a heist film that doesnt contain any scenes of a heist but merely discusses it, characters identified only by colors, an opening scene which has nothing to do with plot but wisely gives the audience an introduction to the personalities in the movie.
Quentin Tarantino in his first feature creates a film that denies the audience the certainties provided in most genre crime and only provides enough for them to follow the narrative which is deliberately fractured through flashback anyway
An intriguing and riveting debut film.
