Taking control of your life is both a scary and beautiful choice in a society where we’re taught to fear poverty, chase success, and pursue quick wealth—only to keep our true desires on hold. We sacrifice our souls for what? Money.

So, is society the problem, or is it money’s fault? You might think it has to be one of them, because we can’t be responsible for that, right? After all, we never asked to be born in a world where money represents power. But, in reality, we are the ones to blame. Yes, WE. It’s our fault for believing the lies society has been telling us.

When I was little, I had no big dreams and wasn’t very ambitious, but I had interests, passions, and laughter. Then one day, my parents asked me the question: What do you want to become when you grow up? The first words that came to my mind were actress, colorist, and artist. But my parents replied that those jobs didn’t provide much money. Since I liked to talk a lot and was argumentative, they said it was better for me to become a lawyer (the typical immigrant dream, LOL). And that’s how I spent the rest of my childhood believing becoming a lawyer was my destiny.

Until high school. They showed us the reality of the job I thought I wanted, and suddenly, my excitement for arguing in a courtroom faded. It wasn’t the years of study that bothered me—it was the “businesswoman look” most female lawyers had, the prescheduled lifestyle, and how serious they always seemed. My young, silly self couldn’t picture myself there. Over time, I realized I wanted to help people in my own way—not defend them in front of random people with the risk of them ending up in prison.

Becoming a lawyer was no longer the right path for me. I looked for other options, but none of them paid as well as law. So, during my last year of high school, I spent my time reading books about literature and philosophy. I felt understood and more courageous after reading them. I learned to take every opportunity to shine, get rid of my anxieties, and let go of my fears about life and money. And that’s what pushed me to create this blog—so we can all move past our fears within ourselves and see life from a whole new perspective.
