The Electronic Monument: Emojis

free note

In 1999, Shigetaka Kurita (a Japanese interface designer) created 176 emojis for NTT DoCoMoโ€™s i-mode, for its mobile platform. These emojis were supposed to be used as fast electronic communication. The first emojis were the sad face, the key, and the enigmatic yellow cat. Apple started using these emojis in November 2008 when the SkyWalker DP-211 SW mobile phone was released. Android released emojis in 2013, with their version 4.1 Jelly Bean, or the official release device, 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Emoji Uprising

A movie was released on Emojis (Called the Emoji Movie) on July 28, 2017 and got a horrible review of 3.4 out of 10 on IMDB. Yet the movie canโ€™t contribute to the success emojis have had. Emojis became popular in 2011, when Apple added an official emoji keyboard to iOS. Then eventually Android added emoji keyboards several years later. There are more than 3,600 emojis on Apple and there are 3,664 emojis on Android.

Emoji Code

Emoji codes have been evolving effectively. There are good ways of displaying emoji code and bad ways of displaying emoji code. There are many fun ways of displaying emoji code such as Guess That Emoji! (Video Game) This game can have emojis interpreted as things such as this โ€œ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฑโ€โ™‚๏ธโ€ which would be Spider-Man. There are other ways of expressing emoji code such as ๐Ÿ‘ฑโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŸฐ๐Ÿคฎ which means I am sick.

There are also inappropriate ways of displaying emoji code which can be seen as the other person is very sincere on what they said or they are trolling you. Inappropriate emoji code can be such as ๐Ÿ† ๐Ÿฉ which would mean sexual innuendo. Or others such as โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ™๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ which would be intended as 9/11. These ways are actually very commonly used some as jokes such as โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ™๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ or others sincere as ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฉ. Some emoji code can be inferred as illegal activity like ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’ฆ if you see this you can report it and the other person can get into huge consequences.

Emoji code can be interpreted many different ways so be careful. I would think before you text something because when it is out, you can no longer take it back even if you unsend it. Before you send an emoji code to someone, I would interpret all possible meanings so no one can take offense or get punished. And be careful too because child predators are sending cheese (๐Ÿง€) and pizza (๐Ÿ•) pics to find, sell, and trade pictures of minors from sexual child abuse. Before sending emoji code be careful and be safe not to end up with a bad connection with someone or worse.
