The story behind the JANMASTMI festival

The Birth story of Lord Krishna:-
Lord Krishna, a central figure in Hindu mythology, was born in the city of Mathura to Devaki and Vasudeva. His birth is celebrated as Janmashtami. Devaki's brother, the tyrant King Kansa, was prophesied to be killed by her eighth child. In a bid to prevent this, Kansa imprisoned Devaki and Vasudeva, killing their first six children.
On the night of Krishna's birth, a divine voice guided Vasudeva to take the newborn to safety. Miraculously, the prison guards fell asleep, the doors unlocked, and the Yamuna River parted to allow Vasudeva to cross. He reached Gokul, where he exchanged Krishna with Yashoda and Nanda's newborn daughter.
Returning to the prison with the baby girl, the guards awoke, and Kansa tried to kill her. However, she transformed into Goddess Yogamaya, warning him that his death was imminent before vanishing. Krishna grew up in Gokul, performing miraculous feats, ultimately returning to fulfill the prophecy by overthrowing Kansa, thus restoring dharma.
This story symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and is a cornerstone of Hindu belief, celebrated with great devotion and joy across India as "KRISHNA JANMASTMI" OR "KRISHNA JANMOCHAV".
