Job woes

In 3 months it will be a year that I've been without a job. I never imagined myself in this situation... after all, I followed the playbook outlined by all my predecessors.

  • Focus on school
  • My sole focus from a young age was my education. My parents, mainly my father made sure to remind my sister and me how important it was to get good grades. I was never good enough to just get a 90% because a common question of his would be "What happened to the other 10%?", it was like this for almost everything we brought home. We were constantly compared, even if they didn't mean it.
  • Get the degrees
  • Now having graduated with honors from high school, college, and university you'd think I would be gainfully employed. Think again! I have been working for almost 6 years yet I don't have enough experience for any position I apply for. I've applied for Front Desk, Administrative Assistant, Developer, Data Analyst, Call Center, and much more. All of these position I have experience doing yet it's not enough. I've worked the front desk for 2-3 years, I have 1 year of professional experience in Data Engineering and 0.5 years in cybersecurity. I have a little under 2 years of experience in a high-call volume work environment and a cumulative 3-4 years as an administrative assistant, yet I don't have enough experience for any position I've applied for according to the recruiters or point of contact for the positions.

I was never into the topic of generations because it never appealed to me yet now many companies and hiring managers seem to be prejudiced because of persons in a specific generation so everyone suffers.

Is this fair?

Does this even make sense?

What about those who actually want to work? want a career?

The next thing that seems utterly ridiculous is how heavily companies are implementing AI in their hiring process. This ATS thing is silly, so what if someone doesn't have the exact word you might be losing a great candidate because you chose to take out an important human aspect. Let me tell you intuition is one heck of a thing and you can't teach that to a machine.
