If God had not been so cruel, 

He would have given me the features you love

He would have framed me in your image

Instead of his own.

If God had not been so cruel,

I would be bold enough to face you

Instead of hiding behind my own cowardice

I would be the one you pine for.

If God had not been so cruel, 

Maybe I would believe in him like you do

Maybe you would actually see the parts of me I like

Instead of the parts that God put on the surface.

If God had not been so cruel,

Maybe I would be able to love anyone else

He should have put more thought into my creation

Instead He put you in my life and out of reach.

If God had not been so cruel, 

He would have made this easier

Instead, I can only write this poem

And hope that God will let me show you one day.
