What the hell has happened to "critical thought"??
It genuinely feels like I'm in a real world version of "Idiocracy" and while I have never exactly "fit in" (and for that I am more and more thankful every day), I can honestly say I have never felt more removed from the human race than I do currently. And I don't mean in the "I'm getting older" and now use the phrase "well, back in MY day" sense because I spent my life longing for what I now have so I have no need for nostalgic delusions. Also, just to clarify, I am not "on my high horse" or however you want to word it because I am, at best, proof that really smart people can do really stupid shit.... But it was funny! And I've amassed an enviable library of great stories :)
Ok, so, back on topic.
Am I alone in that I can not, on any level, relate to the things that everyone else does/says/watches/follows/and whatever other descriptors covers all of the things that interest the rest of the population?? I can't stand TV shows and movies (I have 2 shows that I play as background noise in my house and I have cycled through the entire series for both shows enough times that I think I might account for a measurable portion of their ratings and even so if I sit down to eat or something for a few minutes I can still turn on episodes I am not familiar with.... Those 2 shows by the way are "Mysteries at the Museum" and "American Dad"... One because I am a nerd disguised as an asshole and the other is literally the only show that I find consistently funny and if I even hear other shows I genuinely can not hide or ignore the level of disgust I have) and when one of my friends or someone bursts out in a laughing fit every few minutes while staring at their phone scrolling mindlessly like a zombie and ... ugh.... decides that "OMG you have GOT to see this!" and I am not able to escape before they excitedly shove a phone in my face and then they watch me with excitement barely contained while I am having to watch something that is the equivalent of 2 monkeys trying to fuck a doorknob and somebody with fart noises for the background music and all I can see instead is that some dipshit or a collaboration of dipshits actually sat down to figure out what they have to share with the world and then they worked together with even more people to make their video, then they edited and such and then proudly posted their masterpiece so that thousands of people can get a notification that "NEW CONTENT!" has been uploaded!! and then these thousands of people drop what they're doing to watch and then they they think its just the funniest most genius thing they've ever seen and I feel like I have lost IQ points and am saddened deeply by the thought of how great our species could be and what we could achieve if all of that collaboration and effort and time were to have been put toward teaching someone a new skill or issuing a challenge to their subscribers to go out and contribute to a fellow human or anything else that will benefit our world as a whole but instead they have all chosen that this, THIS, is just awesomely hilarious and the creators are GENIUS!! And then I am left standing there flabbergasted and disgusted and wearing a look of concerned "what the actual fuck??" ..... And I am met with utter disbelief that I didn't find it funny! Well, when this happens I am reminded how vastly different my thinking seems to be from everyone else...
That is just one example and I really don't think it connects a clear perspective to my original subject but I am leaving it as a jumping off point for dialogue so thanks so much for reading and I can't wait to hear from people!!!
