Be Someone's Favorite Writer

On FaceBook I saw a statement that I found interesting.
"Someday you'll be someone's favorite author."
Of course the comments are filled with positive reinforcement of this idea. But is that really what I want?
It's a nice Hallmark thought. However, since I've already been here and done it, I'll take a whole lot of people just buying the durn things. It doesn't need to be your favorite to have made a difference in your life. It doesn't have to be the best written to earn a crazy amount of money. For me, what I want is fans who I can say a line from a book and the image of the character enters their head and they smile, maybe bust out laughing. "Yeah, that was a good one." they say and I know I've done my job well. Not flawlessly, not epically, just notable enough to change one more person's viewpoint in a positive direction. Which is what twenty or so authors did for me and hold a place in my heart for doing it.
