She was a feisty Mexican maid from Reynosa, Mexico. Back in the 1970s, she used to love to cross the border and come to work in McAllen, Texas. And she would arrive on Monday morning and work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. And then she would leave for the weekend. But before going back to Mexico for the weekend, she would go to downtown McAllen and go buy fabric and go buy chicken at Church's Chicken, which is close to downtown in McAllen, Texas. She would buy shoes. She would buy fake jewelry. And she would buy almost anything that her heart desired.
