Why were kindred spirits given wings? Why were they made to fly?

Healing is hardly an easy journey and far from sightly. It brings up wounds and scars we'd rather keep hidden due to the needless shame and feelings of inadequcy that come with our hurts. This was a passion project of mine that depicts what a healing journey really looks like, what it was like for me. I've included an excerpt from the poem below.
